Icon tell who you’re voting for

This is cute: the NDP is giving you an alternative to the lawn sign.

Web badges themselves aren’t especially new, but it’s always good to have an easy way for your supporters to show their partisan affiliation online.

The really nifty little thing – and a sign the party’s online strategy is savvier than most – is their collection of instant messaging icons, which you can use in programs like iChat, MSN Messenger or AIM. Suddenly, instead of a tiny picture of Jar-Jar Binks, people you’re chatting with will see an animated message proclaiming your support for the NDP. (And if your browser’s properly configured, you can install the icon with a single click on the NDP web page.)

Nicely done.

A few hints: HTML works fine, but if you want a web address to appear properly (especially a long complex one), please use <a> tags -- WordPress does ugly and unfortunate things to things like ampersands.
