With the House of Commons embroiled in tumult, the latest Bloc Conservatois gambit is a motion to adjourn.
Between this and the unbelievably patronizing attitude the Conservatives have adopted toward the large majority of Canadians who don’t want an election — “Like a visit to the dentist: it may not be something you want to do, but something you have to do” — it’s tempting to conclude that Harper’s actually deliberately trying to lose.
Why else would he be following exactly the same doomed strategy that saw Newt Gingrich and co. close down the U.S. government in 1995… and as a result, shoot down their chances at the White House in 1996?
I don’t understand all the polling and whining about “Canadains don’t want an election”.
At least 40+% didn’t want the last one, judging by the turnout.
Polls & stats are better if we have comparative data.
When was the last time Canadians wanted an election?
My question is who is trying *harder* to lose — Martin or Harper? They’re more or less neck and neck right now…
My great hope is that the Liberals and the Reformatories will successfully destroy each other. The thing is, most of what they say about each other is true. There must be another alternative… :)
