Influential B.C. First Nations leader George Watts has died.
Watts suffered heart failure Tuesday night in Nanaimo. He was the founding leader of the Nuu-Chah-Nulth Tribal Council and is known for helping close a residential school in Port Alberni.
I remember him as a fearlessly honest, passionate speaker. I’m sorry I won’t be hearing from him again.
