… the good guys unite again to combat spammers:
Working together with the same group of folks, the second Web Spam Squashing Summit will be held in the second half of September in Silicon Valley again. Final details are still being arranged, but representatives from Amazon, AOL, Ask Jeeves, Drupal, Google, MSN, Six Apart, Tucows, and WordPress have all confirmed their plans to attend the event.
Comment spam is becoming the bane of blogging. This is consummate parasitic behaviour, freeloading on the goodwill and work of others. (To plagiarize I comment I made yesterday on another blog, some people can’t see a commons without dreaming up a tragedy.)
Best of luck, people. The blogging world is counting on you.
I see no one from Blogger is bothering to take part. I think I am getting closer and closer to that move to WordPress.
I’m guessing the Google rep(s) may also be wearing Blogger hats. Here’s hoping, anyway — there are a lot of Blogger blogs out there.
