Under the supervision of the Director of Organization, the Outreach Coordinator(s) are responsible for working with NDP activists to organize federal pre-election outreach activities.
The Outreach Coordinator(s) will be located in Vancouver. This a part-time, limited term position.
Job Duties
- Assist federal riding associations and the NDP in developing outreach plans for the 2007 federal election.
- Assist in conducting membership drives and volunteer recruitment to encourage the participation of diverse communities in the Party.
- Plan, prepare and conduct outreach workshops, seminars and other training sessions for Party members.
- Organize outreach and volunteer recruitment during the 2007 federal election.
- Organize special events as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of the structure, history, policies and principles of the New Democratic Party of Canada and B.C.
- Understanding of the demands and needs of the South Asian/East Asian media.
- Good written English and Punjabi (Hindi an asset)/Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese an asset).
- Demonstrated recent election and pre-election experience.
- Demonstrated adult education or training experience.
- Proven ability to motivate and organize volunteers.
- Ability to work in a team environment or independently.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to work under pressure in stressful situations, meet deadlines and communicate effectively with colleagues, media, community contacts and the public is a requirement.
- Be prepared to travel as required and work flexible hours and weekends.
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle.
Starting date: As soon as possible
