I’m in hour three of an effort to clear a loved one’s Windows PC of this frigging thing. So here’s a tip: if you open up Internet Explorer and see a screen purporting to be from Google Tips telling you you have an unregistered copy of Antivirus 2009 on your computer… you’re already infected.
Don’t click anything else on that page, okay? If you already know how to get rid of it, go for it – otherwise, consult someone who knows Windows security better than I do.
